Question:
I'm 21 and get 8 hours of sleep at night and wake up still so tired. whats wrong with me. am i getting too much sleep?

Why am i still so tired in the morning after 8 hours of sleep?

Answer 1:

I'm 25, and I used to feel the same way. All throughout college I would sleep a regular 8 hours and wake up feeling like I didn't even rest. Nothing could wake me up, not even caffeine because I was sensitive to it. I realized it was because I wasn't getting enough real nutrition in my diet. My doctor told me to start taking multivitamins because she figured that would take care of it. I even started drinking Shakeology which is a really expensive nutritional drink. Finally someone convinced me to try taking Zeal which is like a multivitamin/energy shot all in one drink. It has guarana in it which is similar to caffeine but doesn't make you crash later... it gives me energy all day long. Then I started working out and eating better because I had the energy to do so and I felt even better. You should try drinking something similar that has lots of vitamins and nutrition in it and guarana if you can find it. It'll give you long lasting energy.

Answer 2:

It could be anything from having low blood pressure to just being mentally exhausted all the time to being anemic and not having enough iron in your system. It can also stem from not being hydrated enough (do you drink plenty of water?). It can be anything based on what you posted, but I don't think 8 hours of sleep is too much. It's just right. If anything, you're getting a lot of rest. Another possibility is chronic fatigue syndrome or even diabetes or an imbalance in hormones. As you can tell, it can be anything. Best thing to do is get it checked by a doctor. They can run blood tests and etc. for you. Hope you feel better soon :)
